On December 21, 2013, the Austin B-cycle system launched as Austin's public bike share system, a partnership between the City of Austin and the local non-profit Bike Share of Austin. We started with just 11 stations and 100 bikes downtown and have grown to 76 stations and 510 bikes. We are now everywhere from South Congress to UT campus and the Eastside to Deep Eddy in the west.
Here are some quick stats on the impact your city-owned system has made on the Austin transportation landscape:
- 1.1 million Rider trips to date
- 3.1 million Miles ridden to date
- 124 million calories burned
- 2.9 million pound of carbon offset
- Over 250,000 car trips avoided
But we are not resting on our success. We are currently testing e-bikes in our fleet and by popular demand added a new pay by the trip pass at the station and online. Look for additional exciting new expansions and services in 2019!
We are celebrating and giving back to the community by running a 50% off special on our annual membership now through January 6. Get unlimited rides for a year for just $40. Don't miss this amazing deal!
Thank you for your support over the last 5 years and here's to 5 more!
